Book log

I've finished reading Islands of the Frigate Bird : a novel by Daryl Tarte from the USP. It was an interesting read, but I have some mixed feelings about it. I could try to explain them myself, or I could link to this much better explination and book review.

Daryl Tarte wrote a book called 'Fiji' I think it was called, which isn't a very imaginative title! Anyway, it's based on his own family history in Taveuni. Problem with it is that it's clogged with historical data that reads like non-fiction and slows down the action. I read it some time ago and it's not the kind of book you treasure and read again.
An interesting book though is 'Marama' which is based on the time of King Cakobau, John Hunt and the missionaries. It's a good read, I think it was by June Knox-Maur or a name like that.
